Former IRON MAIDEN Drummer To Attend CLIVE AID Benefit Concert
March 10, 2005According to a posting on the IRON MAIDEN fan site MaidenFans.com, former MAIDEN drummer Clive Burr is scheduled to attend a benefit gig to help raise awareness and money for the MS (multiple sclerosis) society, which helps Burr in his illness.
This year's show, which is scheduled to take place on March 19 at Ruskin Arms in London, will see a wide variety of rock artists gathering to raise awareness and funds for the Clive Burr MS Trust. A number of groups will be performing from 4 p.m., ending with the IRON MAIDEN tribute band IRONICALLY MAIDEN. Along with a raffle featuring prizes such as a signed MEGADETH drum head, a "Beast on The Road" tour jacket, a gold watch, CDs, DVDs and one "Eddie Archive" box set, there will be an auction with items that were given by IRON MAIDEN and Sanctuary, their management company/label:
1. A signed "Dance of Death" tour programme,
2. A very rare (numbered to 50) "Number of the Beast" artwork print signed by Mr. Riggs,
3. A limited edition red 7" vinyl of the recent re-release of "Number of the Beast", signed by the band and Clive,
4. A signed "Dance of Death" tour poster.
Burr is suffering from multiple sclerosis — a disease of unknown cause. The disorder is causing him intermittent numbness and can affect his balance. At present there is no known cure for MS, although he is helping test new drugs in the hope that his body response may contribute to a cure.
Clive joined the band at the very end of December 1979 and played on the first three albums — "Iron Maiden", "Killers" and "Number of the Beast" — and toured extensively with the band over this groundbreaking period before leaving in early 1983.
